You Can Be the Difference
School-Based Senior Partner
If you want to play a role in a student’s academic and social success, then our School-Based mentorship program is the right one for you! We have relationships with nearly a dozen schools throughout Larimer and Weld County. These relationships provide us with the opportunity to establish one-to-one mentoring relationships in school as well as out of school.
What Does It Mean to Be a School-Based Senior Partner?
Our program places positive adult role-models in schools to provide mentoring services to students who are facing significant challenges in their lives. Senior Partners spend an average of one hour a week with the same student for a minimum of one academic year.
Many of our Partnerships continue beyond their first year into long-lasting friendships. Each partnership is formed after a thorough selection and match process based on the Senior Partner’s and Junior Partner’s shared interests, common values, and logistical preferences in order to yield the greatest positive outcome. Partnerships spend time together doing various activities that help them build a relationship with one another, such as:
- Playing sports
- Working on a school project
- Eating lunch
- Playing games
Does Mentoring Really Make a Difference in the Life of a Student?
Mentoring is a proven, evidence-based program. Introducing a caring and compassionate adult role-model into a student’s life can lead to future academic and social success. You will be the difference in the life of a child. Students who regularly spend time with their mentors are more likely to maintain better attitudes toward school and are:
- 55% more likely to be enrolled in college than those who did not have a mentor*
- 52% less likely than their peers to skip a day of school*
- 37% less likely to skip a class*
What are the requirements to become a School-Based Senior Partner?
Senior Partners are required to pass a thorough screening process (fingerprints, background check, and interview), have reliable transportation, and be over 18 years old and out of high school.
